Air - Ce Matin La
Hard to believe it's almost a decade since this French duo's proper debut arrived like a breath of freshness. Their subsequent albums have revealed a turkey and a near return to form as well a successful foray into movie soundtrack land, but 'Moon Safari' that remains their touchstone. While the singles and opener 'La Femme D'argent' are certainly easy on the ear there is also a clutch of other moog wonders to light your fire. Particularly precious is the parisienne wander about in the sunshine that is 'Ce Matin La'. Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin outdo themselves with a combination of sprinkling synths, loping brass and restrained but grand synthesised orchestra. Add in some dreamy cooing from Beth Hirsch and you have a cocktail that'll beam you to the Med as the sun is about to go down. Otherworldly. KD
