Satellite State - Get On
Cats on Fire release their debut album ‘The Province Complains’ in a matter of weeks. It is great but sadly they’ve tinkered with one of their best songs called ‘Higher Grounds’ which had originally arrived as a demo. The demo version is superior and with the effervescence removed ‘Higher Grounds’ just sounds good. Hopefully Satellite State won’t make the same mistake when ‘Get On’ is given a polish. The production could certainly be tightened up but the vital ingredients don’t need to be rearranged. ‘Get On’ has the savvy of the Cloud Room’s ‘Hey Now Now’ with extra spurting shards of riffery tagged on. It is a robust delight from the Guildford quintet who’ve already attracted the attentions of BBC Radio Ones indie guru Steve Lamacq. Snow Patrol fans will be wetting themselves all over again when they hear what this band can offer. KD
