Eiffel Tower - Serenade
Unfortunately it seems that both Eiffel Tower and their label (Zero One Infinity) have gone to ground, as in ground to dust I’m afraid. So details are at an all time high degree of sketchiness while I fall head over heels for this tune from the bands 2006 'Smallish Things' LP. Eiffel Tower is essentially Benjamin Wheelock and he quite obviously has a doctorate in what makes indie rock sound like the most vital music imaginable. ‘Serenade’ doesn’t fashion anything remotely innovative, in fact you can hear a plethora of influences throughout the song, yet it has so many tuneful flourishes that my constant repeat plays are threatening to cause the first mp3 ever to degrade a la vinyl. There's some pop amongst the scratches I can tell you. KD
